“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver”

~ Prov. 25:11 (ESV)

As an art, film communicates on many different levels, of which verbal communication is only a small piece. In a powerful, compelling film, all its component arts — its cinematography, lighting, screenwriting, acting, and so forth — communicate in unison, with each art a masterwork in itself. When one or more of these arts falls short of its potential, the communication of the whole film suffers. As Christian filmmakers we have the most beautiful message — the apples of gold. But if we fail to properly craft the setting, we will end up mounting our gold in cheap plastic, leaving the word ineptly spoken.

One goal of Advent Filmmakers, therefore, is to provide training in filmmaking fundamentals through a curriculum appropriate for individuals and schools. This tool is still in development, with our training residing on an interactive blog until its completion. However, you can help bring this essential training to students nationwide.
